FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern softball head coach
Julie LeMaire registered her 300th career win as the team swept visiting Kentucky State in a doubleheader on Wednesday evening at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. The Sharks topped the visiting team 4-2 in the first game before burying the Thorobreds, 8-2, in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOTTOM 1ST: The Sharks tallied all four of their runs in the first inning, jumping out to an early 4-0 advantage. Edmundson led off with a single to third before stealing second to put NSU in scoring position. A single by
Kailynn Blackwood pushed her to third before an RBI-single by
Lexie Storrer scored Edmundson. An error by KSU's third baseman brought home Blackwood to score and a fielder's choice on Dominique Sprenger's hit allowed
Keeley Mayers to score, serving as NSU's final tally.
TOP 4TH: Two scoreless innings later, Kentucky State made it on the board, posting two runs on an RBI-single by Sidney Campbell.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Sharks were limited to just four hits on the night, tallied by Edmundson, Blackwood, Storrer and Kight.
- Storrer, Kight and Sprengers all added one RBI apiece.
- Storrer increased her record to 4-7 with the win, pitching all 7.0 innings and allowing two runs (1 ER) on seven hits with two K's.
- KSU's starting pitcher saw all 6.0 innings in the circle as well, and did not strikeout one Shark.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- LeMaire's 300th career win moves her coaching record to 300-204 (.595).
- This is the first game this season not one Shark has been struck out.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME TWO):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 2ND: Unlike the first game, it was the Thorobreds to reach the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI-single by Campbell.
BOTTOM 3RD: The Sharks responded in the home half of the next inning, putting up three runs for a 3-1 Shark advantage. An RBI-single through the left side by Blackwood plated Lageyre and Maloney, before a sacrifice bunt by Storrer brought home Edmundson.
TOP 4TH: An error by the Sharks allowed Natalia Bocanegra to cross the plate, and the Thorobreds cut the deficit to just one run, 3-2. That would, however, serve as their last score of the game.
BOTTOM 5TH: Leading off the inning with a single up the middle and making her way to third on a ground out and a stolen base, Edmundson was brought home by Storrer, who sent a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
BOTTOM 6TH: The Sharks' bats were blazing to kick off the sixth, as
Kayla Kight sent a triple to centerfield to lead off. Back-to-back RBI-doubles to left by Sprengers and Bautista put two on the board for NSU and after Bautista advanced on a passed ball, an RBI-single by
Megan Maloney scored her. Consecutive ground outs by pinch-hitter
Megan Granitto and Edmundson eventually brought home Maloney, ceasing the Sharks' scoring for the night.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Kailynn Blackwood was a solid 3-for-4 with two RBI and Edmundson was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
- Bautista was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Maloney was 2-for-2 and scored twice to go along with her one RBI.
- Storrer added two RBI and Sprengers had one.
- Inside the circle, Sprengers evened out her record to 2-2, tossing all 6.0 innings and allowing two runs (1 ER) on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
- The Sharks outhit the Thorobreds 12-6.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Sharks' 12 hits were the most recorded so far this season.

The Sharks will return to SSC play this weekend as they travel to Daytona Beach to take on the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
